Usability Issue: Cursor blocks word selection

This one has been bothering me for a while. Depending on where in the text field a misspelled word occurs, the cursor may prevent the user from selecting the correctly spelled word from the word choice list. I find it most prevalent when the cursor is covers the second word choice. It's really hard to select the word around the cursor.

Might I suggest making the cursor point upwards instead? There's nothing up there to block.

Workaround is to slide the word choice box to the left so the second word is now where the first word was (and it's passed the cursor). I run into this constantly.
