Use a gesture and a single letter to invoke a shortcut or macro that auto-completes commonly used words phrases (i.e., "I'll call you right after I'm done with this phone call" or to complete a long URL or email address).

Ohhh, good idea. That would be handy. We may already be working on something like that. I'm happy to pass on any ideas.

Thanks :)

Thanks! They had something like this on the Palm several years ago that was tremendously useful. Perhaps in this swoop from a letter or numeral key into the white space above the letters (that either ends there, or ends with a circle or scribble) would auto complete or present choices of which phrase to use.

Thanks for your great ideas guys! We love getting input from consumers and are always trying to make Swype as useful as possible.

Very good idea, I always wish we had this feature when I need to enter my email address.

And it would save lots of swyping time to Trey ("thanks for a great idea", "we love you guys" and so on)

I am delighted and amazed to find this new input method. First thing I thought of is how killer awesome it would be to be able to designate custom swipes to enter common phrases, salutations, signatures, numbers and addresses. I really hope this can be added soon.

Hello I also use SlideIT and really like the shortcut feature, actually for me this is a must to switch to Swype.

Hope this will be added soon together with Dutch language support, cause Swype is really really fast compared to SlideIT!

Kind regards,
Jeroenski

Swype doesn't currently support multi-touch. Swype could enable two-finger gestures to insert phrases or blocks of text that the user defines. This might be more intuitive than combining a gesture with a key-tap. For example:
1. Type "I love you!"
2. Select it
3. Press and hold Swype key (instead of just clicking it) to create a gesture
4. Trace a heart (with index and middle fingers both on the keyboard) on the keyboard

Then tracing a heart, with both fingers on the keyboard, would insert "I love you!" automatically.
