One of the main uses of SYM mode for me is entering numbers. Phone numbers, account numbers, and the like. I often want to put hyphens in the middle of these strings of numbers. But alas, even in SYM mode, hyphen requires a long press. This really needs to be changed. I should be able to type a hyphen with a short press in SYM mode.

Drove me crazy too but theres a secret....Swype from the Swype button to the "f" (5) key on the ABC keyboard and you get a number keyboard for this. Swype should add a quick menu of shortcuts to the onboard help.

Here is a list of the shortcuts unique to Swype:
-Swype from the Swype key to the f(5) key to get to the NUM layer
-Swype from the Swype key to the SYM key to get to the edit layer
-Swype from the Swype key to the Shift key to get menu of capitalization options for the preceding word (ex: hello, Hello, HELLO)
-Swype from the Swype key to the language(q) key to toggle between languages

I couldn't agree more. I find it very odd that the hyphen is not a short press on the SYM menu. It has to be one of the most frequently used symbols while texting and emailing. Symbols such as the equals sign, underscore, ampersand, plus symbol could be long press symbols but aren't. Make the hyphen a priority people!!!
