I just got my HTC Inspire and when I try to install it, it says, "you can't install it...blah blah blah..." but when I go to settings, the option isn't there to install non-market apps (Like what it shows in the directions)
The stickey'd post didn't really help me because it was specific to the motorola Backflip...
I downloaded sideload wonder machine, but I can't download Swype to my computer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nevermind. I solved my own problem. I mounted the Inspire as a disk drive, took "Swype-Installer.APK from the phone to my desktop, used Sideload Wonder Machine to install it onto my phone. :) It's trying to install now...hopefully it will work :D

EDIT: Nope, I'm still stuck...I can get to the page where it gives me the choice of which Swype to install (English/Spanish) or Full, but then with either, it says my phone is set to block downloads of non-market apps and I don't know what to do again...

My application page doesn't have the option to check for "unkown sources"

You're on AT&T, correct? Unfortunately AT&T prevents non-market apps from being installed on their devices. There is a workaround, but it's a bit complicated and requires the use of ADB (part of the Android SDK). Additionally, it may be a ToS violation depending on the specific wording of your AT&T contract, so I'm unable to give specific details. Do a bit of searching through the forums and Google and you may have some luck.

Yes I am on AT&T. I already have the SDK so where can I find out how to do it? I have Sideload Wonder Machine, but I can't use it on this, because I can't download the Swype Installer to my pc...I've tried searching Google and parts of the forum and I'm not exactly sure what I'm supposed to be looking for...So, maybe you could just tell me what terms to search for in order to find it? /=|
Or maybe you could Point Me in the right direction?

Can you copy the installer.apk to a directory in your pc? Go here: Android Forums > HTC Android Phones > HTC Inspire 4G There is a thread about this. Of course you can always root the phone.

How? I assume I'd mount it as a disk drive and then drag the file over....but I tried that, and I couldn't find the file...
