View Full Version : Will not install on Droid

I have a Droid Incredible running Droid 2.2. When I try to download the installer I am alerted that the software is installing and then nothing happens. When I go back to the home page the install icon on the top right indicates an install happened, when I open the menu it tells me the install failed.

Detailed installation instructions are available here: http://beta.swype.com/android/welcome/detailed. It is best to make sure that you've uninstalled both Swype and SwypeInstaller to make sure the process goes smoothly.

Thanks for the reply. I have never installed Swype on the Droid before so there is nothing to uninstall....I don't even get to the point where I see the download bar.

If you've followed the step-by-step instructions and are still having trouble, please provide all of the information requested in the posting guidelines thread (http://forum.swype.com/showthread.php?994-POSTING-GUIDELINES-READ-ME-FIRST-Get-BETA-for-Android-troubleshooting-help), including a LOGCAT (details at the end of that thread)

Thanks Brian,

Droid Incredible (bought when originally released)
Android 2.2
Hardware version 0002
APPS2SD, do not know what that is
I get a Download Unsuccessful (shortly after starting)

Every time I click the first link in the email a tag comes up that says starting download then nothing happens

I have performed none of the trouble shooting steps, I have never had swype on the phone

Will do the logcat

Try going to the following address and see if the installer will download from there.

Are you using the stock browser or a third party browser? Also, if you're just having trouble downloading the installer itself, we've attached the installer to the forums. Download it from here (http://forum.swype.com/showthread.php?1340-The-Swype-Installer-APK), put it on your phone's SDcard, and then use a file manager like AndExplorer to locate and open it on your phone. It should open with the Android Package Manager and install. From there you should be able to run SwypeInstaller and install Swype Beta as normal.

Good morning.

Thank you for all of you input and help. It turns out the SD card on the phone was bad and the installer was unable to write to it.

I replaced the card and I am installing Swype now.
