I have switched from a Symbian device with Swype beta to a new Android smart phone, and I am most confused using Swype beta on my Android phone. Where can I find the German umlauts and the "" character on the Android Swype version? There were dedicted keys for this on Symbian, but I can't find them on Android.

Yes, I use German as my language in Swype.

and can be found by long pressing on their corresponding letters. Long enough until the character choice box comes up.

As far as the character I have to admit I had to do some digging myself. To get it you'll have to press the SYM key and long press on the $ key to get the menu with the symbol.

Hi Robert,

Thanks, that helped. By the way, I found out that when Swype is in lower case mode then the will also appear in the popup menu. I just did not know that I had to press so long. :o

By the way, do you know why the special keys for the umlauts that are present in Symbian's Swype are not also in the Android version?

No idea to be honest. I see if Brian can ask around the office.
