I wanted to see what my alternate Swype Layout (http://forum.swype.com/showthread.php?2616-My-Proposal-for-a-New-Swype-Layout) would actually look like in the final product. Also, I noticed that this media section of the forums was a little bare. So, I whipped up a Droid X vector graphic in Inkscape and added in a screenshot modified to match my layout.

Here's the plain SVG of the Droid X, in case anyone should care to use it for anything else. As always, I'm releasing it into public domain. Feel free to do with it as you like.

Once folks got used to the non qwerty layout I bet it would catch fire and be very popular, especially with a familiar name, Swype, attached .
In the real version can we have a bigger space bar? :D

I hope so. :)

Hmm, I'm okay with the current size personally. What would you have dropped to make more room? In either case, I guess that's a separate question from the letter layout.

And one more for the ambidextrous layout (http://forum.swype.com/showthread.php?2616-My-Proposal-for-a-New-Swype-Layout&p=13088#post13088).

The QWERTY keypad is great if you are a heavy user. It is ideal for text messages, emails and even blog posts because of the greater speed and accuracy. A QWERTY keypad also increases user confidence when they can actually feel the keys under the fingers. For some users time is of the essence and the faster you can get that message out, the better.

There are better ways on how to get an alternative keyboard for smartphone with this apps (http://textwithdextr.com/).

What, no Smiley button? For that reason alone, I like this alternate layout.
