Is there a way to hide the keyboard on the android beta? For example the keyboard may be covering something you need to see or to press (eg a 'send button') - I end up having to revert to the inbuilt input method to do this as it has a button to hide the keyboard.

If this does exist please let m eknw how - if it doesnt, I strongly suggest it.

I am using swype beta for andriod on htc desire (android 2.2).

thanks

I would also like to see this feature; I'm using Android 2.2 on an LG Vortex. Sometimes the back button works to hide the keyboard, but sometimes that button does other things that I don't want it to do.

Pressing the back button or holding the menu button should hide any on-screen keyboard in Android.

it does always hide, but it often closes the thing you're on as well.
for example when using the google search widget on my desire hd, the keyboard obscures some of the results so i click back, but it closes the search completely.
pressing and holding menu works, but it would be better just to have a button like the default keyboard

We have a somewhat hidden gesture that can do this as well: Swype from the SWYPE key to the BACKSPACE key to hide the keyboard.
