There is no return key while texting. How do I do line breaks/paragraphs and not have giant blocks of text when writing long tests?

If you’re using the latest update, then the button in the bottom-right corner should do what you’re looking for with line breaks. That button is context-sensitive, so it changes function depending on the application in use. What that button should do is decided by the application you’re using and how that app’s developer has marked the entry field you’re typing in.

Well in the messaging app (i.e. texting) it is the smiley face key.

Other 3rd party keyboards have the return key option. Being able to hit return and create paragraphs is a valuable feature to keep texts clean...especially when typing long ones.

One of the keys currently on the keyboard should allow for 'return' to be a secondary option atleast. Imagine how big a pain/unpleasant it would have been to read this message Im typing if I hadn't used line breaks?

Please please please put in a return/enter key, even if it's under the SYM set of keys. I would hope that the ability to format text is just as important as the ability to text like a tween.

How do i insert a line break without the return key??? I am using Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000.

Last time in default Samsung sms mode, its a return key for paragraphing/line break, but after a firmware upgrade, which also updated the swype keyboard, it become the :-) key
Actually is :-) can be access via menu the press insert smiley, therefore why remove the return key which is so important!!!!!

Please have the return key back!!! Trying to uninstall this swype keyboard but cannot, damn it...without the return key is like a bird without wings!!!! Please have the return key back!

I concur that the disappearance of the return/new line ability is a fail.

Okay, so just fooled around with it, got it.

Step 1: Hold down the +!= key (left of the space bar)
Step 2: You should be looking at new Swype options. Locate the space bar. Hold down the space bar once. Let it make a small space.
Step 3: Hold down the space bar again, immediately after.
Step 4: Freak of happiness! you just made a line break!!!

Press and hold the smiley key. After a second or two a submenu pops up that gives you the option of choosing the smilely menu or a line break.
