It would be nice to be able to close the keyboard once it's activated. Some Android keyboards allow a swipe down gesture to close the keyboard. I have an HTC Hero and it actually has a button to close it. This is helpful when the keyboard is obscuring something and you just need to get it out of the way.

On my HTC EVO I can either use the "back" key on the bottom or scroll the screen (up or down) to make the Swype keyboard disappear.
If this works on all touch screen phones like this, then the button is simple a visual convience rather than necessary.

Long press the menu button. This should bring up/hide any keyboard no matter what app you are in, even just the home launcher. Unless changed by the manufacturer this should work on any phone.
