Phone Make/Model - (Motorola Milestone)
Android OS (or ROM) version (Stock - 2.1 version 1)
Swype version (September Update, 2.4.44.10912)
Is the device rooted? (No)

This is similar to the problem identified in the "no known workaround" section of the troubleshooting guide, however, as mine is _not_ an incredible, I thought I would post here anyway.

I installed, then uninstalled, booted reinstalled, redownload, start afresh. Repeat 3 times.

Every time I swiped a word, I get a blue "flash" of border around the keyboard, followed by a beep. No suggestions offered.

I can tap a word in - no alternates offered, just the letters as I have typed them in the suggestion box.

Looked around numerous posts on the forums, nothing quite matched so here is my solution.

Go to Settings -> Language & Keyboard and UNCHECK Swype.
Go to Settings -> Applications -> Swype Press CLEAR DATA. (can't seem to do this on a Milestone - no "Clear Data button")
UNINSTALL Swype
Go to Settings -> Applications -> SwypeInstaller Press CLEAR DATA. (can't seem to do this on a Milestone - no "Clear Data button")
UNINSTALL Swype Installer
Delete previous Swype Installer.apk's from download directory on your SDcard
Force Stop any non-system applications running (used excellent free Android System Info from market)
Install the update.
Activate Swype in the usual manner.
Reboot.

Hurrah! Swype is still working!

Please let me know if I can help any further...
.. and thanks for a GREAT product.

Regards,

Ian
