The widely reported bug in which the Swype keyboard did not respond after a reboot with Android 2.2 seems to have been FIXED in the September update.

HTC Desire
2.2

For me that problem started after I received the 2.2 update.

For me, too! But the September update of Swype has fixed it.

Gotta say - I never had the unresponsive keyboard until after the 2.2 update on my stock standard EVO.

Yes, yes! We are all agreed that the problem started with the Froyo (Android 2.2) update. I thought that the September update of Swype had fixed it. But I received another Android update from HTC over the weekend, and when the device rebooted I had the same problem with Swype once again. (Had to deselect Swype as input method and then reselect again.)

fyi: Swiping on keyboard stopped working on HTC Hero phone 9/19/10. Touch typing continued to work. Uninstalled beta version of Swype Installer and Swype 9/20/10. Requested beta version of software again from website, downloaded/installed. All's working again OK.

Does the same thing on my EVO. Swype did this before and after the 2.2 update. On average it happens on my phone every other day. The fix is selecting a different keyboard and then re-selecting Swype.

Once again, have not had this problem at all since my OS update of 19 September. HTC Desire, Android 2.2, September Swype beta update
