View Full Version : sept update - can't accesss swpe keyboard

HTC Eris (upgraded in July) with Launcher Pro.

I uninstalled the installer and Swype app and went thru the screens...to install.....it installed. Then I went up to screen 4 (open a new message). Pressed and held text and there was no pop-up for input method to select Swype vs the Android keyboard. Obviously Swype keyboard in not showing at all. All was well with the pre-update.

Do I need to try uninstall /install again or is there a manual way (language and keyboard) to get this working?

Go under your Language & Keyboard settings and make sure it actually IS installed. I "installed" (it appeared like it installed) but it wasn't present there. I went and ran the Swype Installer again and this time it installed correctly. If it is installed already, try uninstalling both the keyboard and installer, reboot, and re-download and start fresh and see if that helps. It looks like a number of people are having issues related to the keyboard that this approach fixes - see the Beta FAQ here (http://beta.swype.com/android/faq/).

Thanks rossuns

I've followed your guidance and the exact process described in the beta faq. I've now tried this 10 times and I get all the way to screen #5
https://beta.swype.com/android/welcome/detailed/ but I press and hold a text field and nada... not asked to select an input methiod.

I'm using an HTC Eris, 2.1 android and launcher pro. An office mate is using an Eris, version 2.1 and the standard HTC screens and she's had no luck either.

Help - guidance requested.
