Please follow the instructions in our HOW-TO thread (http://forum.swype.com/showthread.php?994-READ-ME-FIRST-HOW-TO-Get-BETA-for-Android-troubleshooting-help) for requesting support. Make sure you include your debugging logs (instructions at the end of that thread). Thanks!

Do you want us to all pile our ESN reset requests into this thread, or should we each start a new thread for them? I sent a support email asking for a reset in July but have not heard anything since then. When I re-sent the request today, I was directed to go to the forums.

All in this thread would be ideal. And chirotor's post below is pretty much a perfect post :)

Thanks for the logs. Please click the InfoDesk link at the top of the page and open a ticket with the subject "ESN Reset." Include in body your MEID from Settings -> About Phone -> Phone Identity, and the email address you registered for the beta with.

Educational tidbit - here's the line from the debug logs that tells me if a user needs an ESN reset or not:
09-02 14:48:16.744 D/SwypeInstaller( 1476): Got improper ESN error logging into server That means your ESN# (MEID or IMEI) either is already associated with another account would put you over the limit of 2 devices per account is listed as UNAVAILABLE by the system The first two scenarios require an ESN reset. The last one means you need to turn off Airplane Mode, reboot your device, or get it serviced by your carrier.

Jennifer jkampmeier eric68v

The following users MUST (re)submit a Debugging Log as described in this thread (http://forum.swype.com/showthread.php?994-READ-ME-FIRST-HOW-TO-Get-BETA-for-Android-troubleshooting-help#LOGCAT). Either you failed to provide your log, or your log didn't contain sufficient information. You MUST run SendLog IMMEDIATELY after installation. If you wait too long, the necessary entries will be pushed out of the logs by other processes.

Thanks, Brian. I'm not sure why that log didn't work, but here's one I just did. I uninstalled/reinstalled, then ran sendlog: http://pastebin.com/JDx4uAnr

I also get this error message: "The ID of this phone does not match your registration at beta.swype.com." I had to get a new phone several months ago because my first one was defective. But Swype worked perfectly on this phone until the forced update today. Thanks.

Thanks, Brian. I'm not sure why that log didn't work as I posted it immediately. Here is a new one: http://pastebin.com/UzF5E54z

There's still nothing relating to Swype in that log. Are you just reproducing the "ID" error, or are you repeating the entire installation process? You need to repeat the whole uninstall/reinstall process and create the logs as soon as the installation is complete.

I deleted the Swype installer from my phone, then reinstalled it. When I try to run it, the installer asks for my email and pass. I put them in and get the error message (The ID of this phone does not match your registration at beta.swype.com.). So I think the issue is that I'm not even able to get to the installation. That's why the log doesn't show it on my system.

brian.resnik

Teris10,

If your ESN is being rejected, it will show it in the logs (it does for everyone else, heh). Even if you're having out-of-memory errors, it should show it in the logs. Please try this for me: Install the SwypeInstaller but don't log-in to install Swype Reboot your device Go to Settings -> Applications and tap the "Running" tab Go to every non-essential program in that list (and I mean anything that's not required to keep the system alive), tap the entry, and hit the "Force Stop" button Launch SwypeInstaller, complete the installation, and submit your logs (remember to be as quick as possible after the error comes up)

Ansky86,

Please try the same instructions that I posted for Teris10. You also seem to have other apps that pushed the relevant SwypeInstaller log data out too quickly for SendLog to capture the necessary info.
Hopefully that'll get us something useful.

I was already using Swype on my Spica updated to the original Android 2.1 Eclair ROM/Firmware of Samsung from Android 1.5 Cupcake.
Then I installed a custom ROM, SamdroidMod, for it's multitouch drivers and now I can't install/re-install Swype. It says "The ID of this phone does not match your registration at beta.swype.com."
I don't remember if I had already installed Swype when it was on Android 1.5 back then.

I saw Brian's request to post ESN issues in this thread instead.

Hi there,

I have been using Swype since June, but it no longer worked after an OTA update to 2.2 from a manually updated 2.1

I submitted a SendLog to the android.beta.com email on 8/18, but received first an out of office message, followed by an email message that Swype would no longer be offering support via email, so I very much hope that this is the proper place to request assistance.

Full text of the error message you are receiving = Was getting "The ID of this device does not match..." error after 2.2 OTA upgrade. Uninstalled Swype (but not Installer), reinstalled Swype and it worked for a couple of days. The second time it happened, I uninstalled both Swype and the Installer and then requested email to re-download Swype installer and did so. When I clicked to install, and entered my credentials, but Swype will no longer even install as it says "The ID of this phone does not match your registration at beta. swype.com".
So now I don't have Swype on my phone and can't even re-install it.

I worked through some tickets earlier tonight for Brian. There were a couple that were blank. Don't remember who they were from but I removed them from the database. If you can resubmit the ESN/Email address I'll be sure to process that tonight for you. Be sure to include a Title of "ESN Reset" as it's rather hard to open the tickets if there is no title and left blank.

Hey I was just wondering if there's anything else I had to submit to make it easier for you.

NOTE TO ALL USERS: You can prevent yourself from having to resubmit your logs by searching through them before submitting to make certain that they contain information regarding the installation process. Most users who have needed to resubmit there logs have to do so because the logs don't contain any information from the installation process. Make sure that there are entries related to "swype" (just do a simple text search) in more than just the running processes list that appears at the top of the logs.

The following users should click the InfoDesk link at the top of the page, submit a ticket with the subject "ESN Reset" and include the email address you used to register for the beta and your IMEI/MEID from Settings -> About Phone -> Status/Phone Identity

The following users do not require an ESN reset or require additional troubleshooting. Additional instructions included...

Ansky86 - Sorry to say, I'm still seeing nothing related to Swype in your logs. It looks like the "SprintZone" and "SocialNetwork" apps are flooding your logs. Instead of using the Running tab in the application list to kill running apps, please try killing anything related to "SprintZone" or "SocialNetwork" from the All tab. You can search your logs yourself for things relating to Swype. We'll need entires in the logs themselves, not just the running application list at the top. If your logs are still flooded, try killing any applications that look they're making dozens of entries at a time.

Thank you!

I had my phone in Airplane mode on a flight, when I put my phone back in regular mode and my Swype told me my phone ID didn't match. I am running an official Beta so I re-installed the Beta Installer, logged in and got the same message. Nothing has changed on my phone, no update, no software changes.

Phone is Droid Incredible, Rooted, running the official 2.2 update with S-Off

UPDATE: I wiped my phone and installed CyanogenMod 6.0.2 - Reinstalled the Swype installer and then Swype installed without any issues. I am back using swype! YAY!

Just something to consider for the future - I'd gladly shell out ten bucks to get immediate access to Swype rather than waiting for an ESN reset. I know it's still a beta product, but I consider it worth paying for. And you're probably laughing at my pathetic offer of ten bucks.

Since the last beta and now including this one I have had a replacement Motorola Droid and cannot install Swype onto it because I receive the error that the ID of the phone does not match the ID at registration. I have tried all of the FAQ solutions and some around the internet to no avail.

Motorola Droid
2.2 Froyo
MEID: A0000022045DB0
Swype Installer 1.1 (Downloaded from the newest round of beta emails.
I expected to be able to install Swype,
but instead received an error that says "The ID of this phone does not match your registration at beta.swype.com"
Swype and SwypeInstaller were both uninstalled
The device is not rooted

If you wait too long, the necessary entries will be pushed out of the logs by other processes.

biggie6924 - PasteBin doesn't include Swype install logs.
Uncle Fred - Please include information requested here: http://forum.swype.com/showthread.php?994-HOW-TO-READ-ME-FIRST-Get-BETA-for-Android-troubleshooting-help

User bvandinther was given permission to request for an ESN reset by admin on page 10 of this thread. I tried 3 times to submit this ticket but every time I receive an email telling me that I have not been given permission to submit a new ticket and therefore my ticket was automatically closed.

Maybe there is some confusion about my user name. My forum username is bvandinther@gmail.co while my email is bvandinther@gmail.com (Username got truncated), yet "bvandinther" was given permission to submit a ticket. can you please sort this out and allow my ESN reset to proceed?

Sorry about the confusion. I just released the ESN associated with your email. If this doesn't work please submit another ticket through the InfoDesk. If you want to drop me a PM along with it I'll make sure you don't go with Swype any longer than what you have to. Thx.

I'll have to check with Brian; however I found a couple posts with similar messages that were resolved by doing the following:
Uninstalling Swype and Swype Installer from the phone
Removing all items from your Download folder on your SD card
Rebooting the Phone
Re-downloading the Swype Installer and reinstalling Swype.

I'll have to check with Brian; however I found a couple posts with similar messages that were resolved by doing the following:
Uninstalling Swype and Swype Installer from the phone
Removing all items from your Download folder on your SD card
Rebooting the Phone
Re-download the Swype Installer and reinstall Swype.

Checked with Brian, this should resolve your issue. If it does not please post in another thread so we may better help you. Thx!

I have done the above steps a few times, no change, still get the error.

I looked over your install logs again. Looks like there's issues opening the install package:
failed to open Zip archive '/sdcard/download/Swype-Installer-4.apk'
See if you can connect to a WiFi network and downloading the installer through that connection.

Here, I reset the password successfully then made another log. please tell me what next to try? It's been two weeks with this problem, ever since the droid update.

Thanks!

The password you use to log in to the beta installer is not the password you use on the forums. Your BETA password can be retrieved/reset at http://beta.swype.com by clicking the "Login" button.

I am having this same problem. I have done the reinstall exactly as instructed to no avail. This happened after 2.2 upgrade.

Wireless Carrier - Verizon
Android Version (2.2 FroYo? 1.6 Donut?) - 2.2 FroYo
ROM Version (Stock? Custom ROM?) - Custom
Are you using APPS2SD? No
Full text of the error message you are receiving (if you are not receiving an erroMotorr, describe the problem in as much detail as possible)
What troubleshooting steps have you completed so far? ID of phone does not match registration on beta.swype.com
Are you a ROOT user? (If you don't know what this means then the answer is "no") - Yes

Brian I followed the link you gave, it sent me another reset password link, I reset it and did the whole reinstall thing again and it says "swype installation failed. The ID of this phone does not match your registration at beta.swype.com". This happened immediately after the 2.2 upgrade and prior to that everything was working well. So what do I try next? Thanks!

I looked over your install logs again. Looks like there's issues opening the install package:
failed to open Zip archive '/sdcard/download/Swype-Installer-4.apk'
See if you can connect to a WiFi network and downloading the installer through that connection.

I had actually grabbed another copy and used it, if you look further in to the logs.

The password you use to log in to the beta installer is not the password you use on the forums. Your BETA password can be retrieved/reset at http://beta.swype.com by clicking the "Login" button.

Brian I followed the link you gave, it sent me another reset password link, I reset it and did the whole reinstall thing again and it says "swype installation failed. I see the rejection from the server in this log. An ESN reset will get you past where you're at right now. You can go ahead and click the InfoDesk link at the top of the page, submit a ticket with the subject "ESN Reset" and include the email address you used to register for the beta and your IMEI/MEID from Settings -> About Phone -> Status/Phone Identity

Regarding the following posts. Not too sure what's going on with your install logs.

I have followed this process 5 times:

I uninstall previous versions (both Swype and Swype Installer). I reboot. I downoad the Swype Installer from the email. I reboot. I run the Installer. I enter my credentials. I get the error. I run Send Log. cI search the log ad for some reson, I can not get the logs to reflect the attempt by the Swype Installer that leads to the error. I am still getting the ID error.

I received a new phone unit and I definitely think that esn swap is the cause.

I have tried everything suggested above and in the How To.

Not sure what else to do.

Thanks.

I've been dealing with this for a while and am about to give up on Swype. PLEASE help. I've tried again to post a working log and this one has Swype info in it: http://pastebin.com/Y7ubpgpL

Hey everyone,

please try to be patient. We'll be catching up on ID resets soon. We're also working on a way for users to reset their ESN through the beta login page (one time only). We'll get back to you soon! Super busy :o

Good work. I finally figured out that clearing the Delvik (spelling) cache if you uninstall the old Swype and install the Sept. update makes it more accurate.

Robert, I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program a dozen times now and have run three separate logs for the admins here. When I try to complete the install, it asks for my email and password. Once I put all of the info in, it gives me the error message. I have uninstalled and reinstalled again, tried to enter my info, got the error message and ran the log, which is posted here:

http://pastebin.com/ELS104AH

If this still does not work for you, please explain what else I need to do to resolve this problem. Thanks.
